Sweet Chamomile, our miniature Hampshire sheep, has been dealing with some mysterious lameness in her back right leg. When stall rest and anti-inflammatories didn’t bring much relief, Dr. Metcalf came to take a closer look.
One Tough Sheep, One Tender Joint
After a thorough physical exam turned up no clear cause, Dr. Metcalf took X-rays—and found arthritis in Chamomile’s stifle joint (that’s essentially a sheep’s version of a knee). To ease her discomfort, he injected the joint with a combination of Hyaluronic Acid and Steroids, then prescribed a few days of anti-inflammatories to help with post-injection soreness. The results weren’t instant, but by day 11, our tough little girl was noticeably more comfortable—walking easier and moving with much less hesitation. We’ve even included her X-rays so you can see the difference between her healthy and arthritic joints.
Chamomile may be small, but her strength is mighty—and we’re so relieved to see her feeling like herself again!
