MEET TEDDY

Underweight, scraggly, bony and considered an orphan all before the age of 15 months, life seemed hopeless for Teddy as he was sent to the auction looking for a new chapter. However, not only did we swoop in to give him that second chance, we gave Teddy his first forever home.

After a few days, she was diagnosed with pneumonia and rushed to the hospital along with Willie. With the care of the vets, Dolly made a full recovery and returned to the ranch with her family.

Granny was rescued from a kill pen in Louisiana, emaciated and with overgrown hooves that were broken. As the first animal to arrive at the ranch, she became a caretaker for any orphaned animals and helped Shadow through the grief of losing her baby. Granny and Shadow formed a close bond as a result.

Gus was found wandering on the road by the local sheriff and was placed on a lost list for four weeks. However, no one came forward to claim him and he was eventually put up for auction. We decided to intervene and brought Gus to our sanctuary.

Harvey was rescued from an auction where he had been neglected and kept in a pasture with overgrown hooves. When he first arrived, he was skittish and difficult to handle, often biting and kicking those who tried to approach him. With the help of the Donkey Sanctuary (based in the UK), we were able to work with him and make significant progress in his behavior.

Pepper and Salt were abandoned together at a sale barn, where they were saved from being sent to slaughter by a kind neighbor who drove several hours to rescue them. They were then taken to the Humane Society of North Texas for quarantine and medical care.

Pepper and Salt were abandoned together at a sale barn and were set to be sent to slaughter. A neighbor alerted us, and we quickly drove several hours to rescue them from the man who had bought them. We then took them to the Humane Society of North Texas where they were given medical care and quarantined for 30 days.

Rescued from a Texas kill pen, Shadow was malnourished and had lost her baby to pneumonia. Her fear and grief were palpable, until Granny came along and helped her to trust again. Shadow and Granny were the first animals to come live at the ranch!

Dolly fell ill with pneumonia shortly after their arrival and had to be hospitalized, taking Willie with her (as he was so young). Thankfully, she made a full recovery and they were reunited with Brooks.

We're here to support Dorcas and her little ones, providing the extra care they may need.

Our Boer goat recently became a momma for the third time! At nearly four years old, she welcomed two adorable additions to the family on Christmas day. Dorcas is a real sweetheart, and though she faced a minor challenge with a teat abrasion, we're here to support her and her previous owner, who's been with her since she was a baby. With the possibility of needing a bit of extra care for her recent arrivals, we're here to ensure Dorcas and her little ones enjoy all the love and attention they need.

A Little Bit About Me...
Otis arrived emaciated, battling pneumonia, and with severely overgrown and twisted hooves. He required weekly vet visits and lots of intensive care. Despite these challenges, he found companionship with one of our spirited pygmy goats Pops, who quickly became his new best friend. After a short year with us, Otis peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge. He will be greatly missed by all of us here, but especially by Pops, his cherished friend.

Missing an eye, teeth untreated and distrusting of humans, Alvin was found at a sale barn with Theo and Simon in Oklahoma. Our amazing ranch handyman, Paul, brought Alvin here to give him a new life at our Sanctuary where he would never be afraid again. His confidence is growing everyday and he enjoys playing on the farm with his friend.

Autumn and her sister, Summer, were brought to us by a rescue organization. They were immediately taken to the hospital for evaluation and were placed next to each other in stalls, where they were constantly crying to each other, revealing the strong bond they had. Our vet believes they worked together as draft horses. Autumn has secondary lymphedema in her back leg.

We welcomed two draft horses, Benny (male) and Maggie (female), who were abandoned at a sale barn and left in terrible condition. This bonded pair arrived emaciated, suffering from long, cracked hooves, and even skin problems. Thankfully, they're now safe at our Sanctuary, receiving a careful refeeding program, vet care, and most importantly, lots of love!

Meet Clementine, a sweet and brave pony who has already stolen our hearts! When she first arrived at the Sanctuary, her hooves were in really bad shape after years of neglect. Dr. Metcalf performed life-saving procedures to give her the best chance at recovery. While she's still in the early stages of healing, we're hopeful as we watch her rest and regain her strength. Clementine’s journey is just beginning, and we’re so grateful to be part of it as she works toward a happy, healthy future.

Meet Doc, an old soul with a heart full of love. At 28 years young, all he wants is a peaceful place to retire. When a family found him in poor condition, they knew he needed help and reached out to us. Since his arrival, Doc has been under the careful watch of our vet, who has developed a plan to help him get back on track. Though he's blind in one eye and dealing with some old injuries, Doc is well on his way to recovery. With plenty of love, care, and good food, he's slowly regaining his strength. We're so grateful for this sweet boy and can’t wait to see him thrive in his new home here at the Sanctuary!

We found Izzy at a sale barn in a heartbreaking state – emaciated and graded at a mere 1 on the body scale. Her severely overgrown teeth likely kept her from eating properly for months. The first few nights involved a strict starvation refeeding program, where we offered her small bowls of soup every few hours. After spending a week in the hospital and overcoming pneumonia, she's back home with us on the Farm and taking each step toward recovery with newfound strength!

Lucy was seized by the sheriff from a cruel home and sent to a sale barn. We rescued her, and she was immediately sent to the hospital to be evaluated. When she came home to us, she was in poor health, scoring a 2 out of 10 on the body health scale. Our vet estimated she needed to gain 300 pounds. She is blind in one eye, possibly due to a previous injury.

Blossom's story began as a little lamb rejected by her mother and facing minor health problems. But, fate brought her to our sanctuary where she met her perfect herd mate, Flower. Despite initial struggles with bloat, our dedicated sanctuary manager, Lauri, never gave up on her. With the help of an innovative rumen fluid transplant and proper care, Blossom made a full recovery and now thrives as a happy, independent and wise member of the herd.

Nancy was one of five sheep found hog tied in the trunk of a car during a routine traffic stop on a scorching hot day. Tragically, one of her herd mates had already perished from heat exhaustion and the driver was arrested. After receiving care and treatment at the ASPCA, Nancy came to our sanctuary. One of her most pressing needs was her overgrown hooves, which took months of dedicated care from our sheep farrier to restore to normal.

A Little Bit About Me...
During a routine traffic stop, five sheep (including Pearl) were found hog-tied in the trunk of a car on a sweltering day. Tragically, one sheep had already passed away due to heat exhaustion, and the driver was arrested. The remaining sheep were taken to the ASPCA for evaluation and care, and after a few weeks of treatment, they were welcomed into our sanctuary. Unfortunately, one of the sheep (Hazel) passed away after a week at our sanctuary despite being hospitalized at OSU. It was during her hospital stay that we discovered she was pregnant. After this, we blood-tested all of the sheep and found that Pearl was also pregnant, and so began our anticipation for the arrival of a baby!

A Little Bit About Me...
Our sweet Stargazer is a little different from the others – born blind and nearly deaf. When she came into our care, it was clear that she'd need extra love and attention. We're helping her get comfortable, trimming her badly overgrown hooves a little at a time. She lives alone in "The Observatory" with her stuffed animals (Mr Bear and Elephant) and we often find her cuddled up with them!!
