When you’re caring for a barn full of donkeys in Texas, good ventilation isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity!
That’s why we recently made an important improvement to Safe Haven, one of our donkey barns at the FHF Ranch.
Making the Air Move
We have a much bigger project planned to expand electricity to this area of the Ranch. Once that project is complete, we’ll be able to install fans in the stalls to provide even more airflow and relief during those hot Texas days.
But we’re not waiting until then to make things more comfortable for our donkeys.
In the meantime, we needed another way to improve ventilation and help keep the barn from feeling so stagnant.
New Vents, Better Airflow
Our friends at Galan’s Construction, who originally built our beautiful barn, came out by the end of the week to install new vents throughout Safe Haven.
The difference was noticeable right away.
It’s still Texas, and it’s still hot—but the new vents have significantly improved the airflow inside the barn and given our donkeys a more comfortable environment.
Every Improvement Matters
Projects like this may not be as exciting as a new rescue arrival or a big medical recovery, but they’re an important part of caring for the animals who call the Sanctuary home.
From major construction projects to adding a few much-needed vents, we’re always looking for ways to make the Ranch safer, healthier, and more comfortable for our animals.
And for a barn full of donkeys, a little more airflow goes a long way!
