Saying Goodbye to Sweet Clementine

This afternoon, we surrounded our beloved Clementine with love and compassion as we helped her pass peacefully. It was a heart-wrenching decision, but one we made with her comfort and dignity in mind.

A Journey of Pain and Resilience

Clementine came to us with severely neglected feet—a heartbreaking result of years without proper care. The lack of regular trims led to conformation issues and immense pain. Despite this, Clementine’s sweet and gentle nature shone through from the moment we met her.

Exhausting Every Option

Under the expert care of Dr. Metcalf, we explored every possible avenue to give Clementine a chance at a pain-free life. We tried everything from traditional treatments to innovative approaches, even consulting with Dr. Vlahos, a renowned expert in equine prosthetics. Sadly, despite our relentless efforts, the kindest and most compassionate choice was to release her from her suffering.

Our "My Little Pony"

Clementine was truly one of a kind. With her bright eyes, soft coloring, and gentle demeanor, she captured hearts everywhere she went. We lovingly called her our “My Little Pony.”

Volunteers and visitors adored her, spending time braiding her mane, brushing her coat, and simply enjoying her calm presence.

The Honor of Loving Her

Though our time with Clementine was far too short, it was an honor to know her, care for her, and be by her side until her very last breath. We take solace in knowing she was surrounded by love and kindness in her final moments. Now, she is at peace, free from pain and suffering.

As we said our final goodbye, we held onto these words: “If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.”

Clementine will always hold a special place in our hearts, reminding us of the profound impact of care, compassion, and love. Rest easy, sweet girl.
