When our team arrived at the Sanctuary one morning, we could tell something wasn’t right with our big-horned friend, Lolly. He was favoring his front leg, so we quickly consulted with Dr. Avery and wrapped it in case an abscess was forming.
But just as we were about to let him out, we noticed something even more concerning—his eye was watering and looked swollen.
When It Comes to Eyes, Every Second Counts
Eye issues are always treated as emergencies. They can worsen fast, and early care makes all the difference. So Lolly was on his way to see Dr. Avery right away!
Good News at the Vet
Thankfully, Dr. Avery’s exam brought a huge sigh of relief. Lolly’s eye showed signs of irritation, but nothing severe or lasting. His feet, however, were pretty sore—likely from arthritis setting in.
At 13 years old, Lolly is in his senior years and now takes daily medicine for pain and inflammation. Dr. Avery also added monthly injections to help keep him more comfortable.
The Life of Lolly
Lolly joined the Sanctuary family back in 2017 after being rescued from a small backyard cage. And let’s just say, he’s been making up for lost time ever since!
The only thing bigger than his horns is his personality. He absolutely hates being left out of the fun… and if there’s a gate in his way, well, he’s not afraid to break it down! So watching him slow down with age has been bittersweet—even if it does mean fewer fence repairs for us.
Grateful Hearts
We’re endlessly thankful for our dedicated team who spot even the smallest changes in our rescues, for veterinarians like Dr. Avery who always make time for urgent care, and for YOU—whose support makes every healing story possible.
Because of you, Lolly is safe, cared for, and surrounded by love—exactly as every animal deserves.
